Twice-Yearly Strategy Reviews
Formal review meetings — in Poprad or via secure video — covering portfolio risk, structure performance, and any regulatory changes relevant to your arrangements. Each meeting produces a written update brief you retain.
Service · Advisory
Ongoing independent advisory retainers for families and individuals in Slovakia who want their capital protection strategy to evolve as their circumstances do.

A capital protection strategy built in 2018 reflects the circumstances, legislation, and family situation of 2018. Marriages, business exits, children reaching adulthood, regulatory changes under EU directives, and shifts in real estate values all alter the risk and opportunity profile of a portfolio. Atelier of Edinburgh's advisory retainer clients receive at minimum two formal strategy reviews per year — each producing a written update brief comparing your current position against the original objectives. Between reviews, clients have direct access to their assigned advisor for questions, legislative alerts, and time-sensitive decisions. The retainer is structured transparently: a fixed annual fee disclosed before engagement begins, covering all reviews, written outputs, and advisor time up to a defined threshold per quarter.
Every retainer element is documented in the engagement letter before the first review.

When Slovak or EU-level regulation changes in a way that affects your arrangements, we notify you in writing within five working days and outline the recommended response. You are never left to discover regulatory change through the press.
Retainer clients contact their named advisor directly — not a call centre or junior associate. Response within one business day is our standard. For urgent matters, same-day contact is available during office hours.
Every December, clients receive a twelve-month summary of all strategy changes, regulatory alerts responded to, and the current status of each structural element — a clear record for tax advisors, legal counsel, or family members.
Advisory retainers are most effective when clients engage actively — attending review meetings, providing updated information about life changes, and responding to legislative alerts within a reasonable window. An advisor who is not informed about a business sale, a change in family structure, or a new property acquisition cannot update the strategy accurately. We also want to be clear that ongoing advisory does not guarantee investment performance. Our role is to ensure your arrangements remain structurally appropriate for your goals and legally compliant under current rules — not to predict markets or generate returns. The pace of EU regulatory change means that even a well-constructed plan from three years ago may require meaningful updates today.
“The legislative alert in March 2023 about changes to cross-border reporting obligations was the moment I understood why a retainer matters. My accountant hadn't flagged it yet. Atelier of Edinburgh had already drafted the response steps before I even knew the regulation had changed.”
